As many of you know, we lost my Mom in early December. Because of that, I was going to push the release of book two (Tracking The Hunter) back until early January. However, my step Dad approached me and said some things about my writing that brought me to even more tears.

He mentioned how proud he and Mom were, and still are. How amazed that I’d made it to International Bestseller on Amazon with my first book. And several other, personal things. Then he paused, took a deep breath and said, “The day before Mom left us, you called and told her that your second book was ready, right? If it is, do you think you can have them publish it on the 15th of December in honor of her?”

I stopped short. My heart crumbled all over again because, you see, Mom was my best friend. My confidant…

Audio Book Creation Tips for the Independently Published Author

Unknown's avatarDon Massenzio's Author Site

This week’s blog touches on an issue that I am dealing with as we speak. My brother drives a cab in our hometown. He has been a big supporter of my books. A few months ago, he suggested a medium for my books that I had not seriously considered. Many of his regular passengers are blind or vision impaired. They are also avid consumers of audio books. He told me that this would be a great market for my books.

I was a bit skeptical at first, but I began to research the audio book market. Audio books are very popular for commuters and there is a very active market. Because of the work involved, audio books often sell for more than their printed or e-book counterparts. Armed with these facts, I set out to pursue creation of an audio version of my first book, Frankly Speaking.

I read a…

They had been searching for their mate, but when they find her she is traumatized and scared to be around strange men. They must get her to accept them before they reveal their true natures. Will their love be strong enough to break down her barriers? Could she truly be destined to love two dragons?

Today Annie’s dragons will shift and fulfill her every desire, which means a fiery threesome—and true love.

Excerpt:

They slowly stared her down, gold and green eyes unblinking. Grrr, dragons. Sometimes she could tell they thought they were boss.

Tine suddenly leapt up and licked her from head to toe. Ew. Brand followed suit and licked her too, evidently not to be outdone. Ugh. Now she was wet and sticky all over. Glaring at them, she stripped and dove into the pond. The…

IT’S RELEASE DAY!! The Cowboy 12-Pack including Cupid’s Cowboy is LIVE!

IT’S RELEASE DAY!! The Cowboy 12-Pack including Cupid’s Cowboy is LIVE!.

New Release by Cynthia St. Aubin

When who’s your daddy is a
multiple choice question…
Paranormal Psychologist
Matilda Schmidt is one client away from fa-la-la-la-losing it. Holiday cheer is
in the air, gun-toting fruitcakes are in her office, and she’s spinning through
mood swings fast enough to make her toss her cookies–even without the morning
sickness.
When Ol’ Kris Kringle goes
AWOL after a nervous breakdown, his disgruntled elf is convinced that only
Matilda can get him back on his sleigh in time to keep humans from tearing each
other apart quicker than couponeers at a Black Friday sale.
But their efforts hit the
skids when the men in Matilda’s life show up and demand to know which of them
is responsible for the bun in her oven: the hot hit man who’s likely to stuff
her stocking with ammunition, or the delicious demigod who’s made Santa’s
naughty list a couple centuries running.

I like gravy.
This has nothing to do with the rest of my bio,
but I thought you ought to know.
About the writing thing…
I wrote my first play when I was six and made my
brothers perform it for my parents. I charged gum wrappers for admission (a
steal, in my opinion, considering I had handed out the gum wrappers ahead of
time). While I seriously doubt you’ll be seeing any of my formative work on
Broadway anytime soon, I can credit these early experiments with the first of
many important lessons I learned about writing: no matter how brilliant your
manuscript is, some kid can go streaking butt-ass nekkid across the living room,
and totally undermine your vision.
Everyone watches the naked kid because running
across the living room with your cheeks flapping in the breeze is friggin’
hilarious.
Cue the lightbulb moment. People like funny stuff!
I never quite gave up on the writing thing, even
as I tried my hand at being a dusty academic turned Executive Assistant (they
paid me to nag! How cool is that?), but in those quiet moments when expense
reports had been filed and to-do items checked off, the funny people in my head
kept talking to me.
Yes, I know they have medication for that. It’s
called vodka.
Since they discourage drinking at work, I
started writing instead. What came out was an amalgamation (vocabulary!) of all
the things I love: funny stuff, art, psychology, food, people, and
paranormal critters!
Et voila! The Case Files of Dr. Matilda
Schmidt, Paranormal Psychologist were born.
When I’m not sitting in my office watching cat
videos and pretending to write, I like cooking, knitting (badly), and reading
anything that makes me laugh (like my bank statements).
I live in Colorado with my brilliant husband and
three surly cats.

The Rock Star of Dark Fantasy Dark Secrets by Madeline Pryce

Dark Secrets

Book #2 of the Dark Series

DS

We have triumphed!  It seemed like everyone and thing in the world was against me reading this book.  But even with the constant interruptions we persevered, me in not giving up and the author in writing a story so compelling, that even with my atrocious memory I had no problem getting right back into the thick of things.  And the thick of things is normally where I found myself.  Ella and Micah went from one adventure to another.  Talk about intense, you best sit on your hands if you don’t want to bite your nails, and the sexual tension is a five alarm fire with no rescue in sight.  Fans and ice cold drinks are a definite must.

I went back and reread Dark Cravings and Dark Innocence which I highly recommend reading before reading Dark Secrets.  I absolutely enjoyed the experience and was reminded why I fell in love with Madeline Pryce’s writing.  I did wonder how she was going to top Dark Innocence, since that was my all time favorite book ever written.  Yes, that was past tense, because she did it!  I didn’t think it was possible.  I didn’t think she could come close to the emotions she evoked in me with Dark Innocence, but not only did she succeed, she surpassed.  Now here is my dilemma, I wanted to give her six stars of five for Dark Innocence.   How do I rate Dark Secrets?  Seven stars?  We are going to have to change the rating system.

Micah and Ella are once again thrown into turmoil, fighting to keep their family together and safe.  To protect each other and understand the love and mate bond they have for each other.  Is it the bond or is it real?  Would the other be there without the bond?  This is just one of the questions Micah and Ella must answer.  They must deal with growing powers and responsibilities, and of course the ever growing amount of people and things that want either want them dead or want to control them.

I laughed, I cried, I think I cussed a time or two. I know I definitely cheered, I might have swooned, I certainly drooled.  But most of all I thoroughly enjoyed this book.  I bow to Madeline for an awesome read and for dethroning Dark Innocence.  I didn’t think it was possible.

I was given this book free of charge by the publisher for an honest review.

Dark Innocence

Book #1.5 of the Dark Series

Dark Innocence

Awesome, Spectacular, Tremendous!  This book has totally surpassed my expectations and they were high as I rated Dark Cravings 5 stars.  Dark Innocence was even better.  This book is so well written the author is able to draw you in from the very first page and keeps you turning the page till the last.  I was so engross we could have had an earthquake and I would have just taken my tablet and moved under a doorway and kept on reading.  The interacting between the main character sizzles, but it also makes your heart catch.  Some of the supporting characters bring some very interesting scenes to this book that will make you laugh and stand up and cheer.

Micah has been dethroned and Dante has been crowned king.  He is the ultimate in male heroes.  Just thinking about him makes me sigh and not just from his looks.  The way he treats Hannah is enough to make me weep with jealously.  Then there’s Hannah she’s not the brilliant, insecure, air head from the first book.   Unable to forget one second of the pain and torture she’s endured she’s on a downward spiral of drugs, booze, and meaningless sex.  Dante is the one to give her the desire to find the strength within herself to pull out of it.

All in all I give this book a six because it was beyond amazing.

Dark Cravings

Book #1.0 of the Dark Series

10006213_1513641032195665_598562030_n

This book was awesome. I just finished it earlier this evening. Wow, talk about smoking. I think the fire alarm went off. I am on pins and needles waiting for Dark Innocence, (Hannah and Dante’s story). The excerpts and summary of Dark Carvings did not prepare me for how blown away I was with this book. It was beyond awesome

Ella Grey a half/vampire and Micah MacGregor her Shadow hunter partner are hit with a lust spell by a Succubus.  These two previously hostile partners spend the next four days having hot, hot sex.  The only problem is this pesky little prophecy about the two of them getting together causing the destruction of all.  Ella is beautiful, tough, yet loyal.  And Micah is hot, shoulders to die for, mysterious, and just as loyal.  The supporting characters are just as loveable, except maybe the bad guys, Micah and Eli’s dad, and the vampire Queen to name a few.  This is a definite must read.

New Release and Book Review

The Lion Kings (Part One)
By Renee George

Released July 8, 2014

TheLionKings_part1_large

I don’t know whether to strangle the author or hug her. On the one hand the story is outstanding. It is superbly written. From the very first page I was hooked. Okay she had me at the second sentence and never let me go. She made me care about the characters. Made me want to know what made them tick. What happened that night six months ago when Madeline met Madame Devine the Carnival psychic? Why did she dream about Adam and Cage before she even met them? How did she know their names? Why did they feel so very familiar? What was this connection between Clary Sage and Madeline? So many questions I want answered. Then to top it off the sex scenes are so hot and intense I had to get a fan out. You have to applaud an author who can do that when there is hardly any actual sex going on. What no real sex you say? How is that possible? Hah! Read the book and find out. The author does it and she does an awesome job of it.

Now where was I? Oh yeah. Great story; well written; awesome characters; and hot, hot, hot, sex; so why do I want to strangle the author? It’s a serial. I know, I was warned. But it was just so good. I hated to see it come to an end. But then again, I hate to see any book I really like come to an end. At least with this one I know there will be book two, three, four, and five. Soon I will get to revisit them all again and knowing me I will reread this book before I read book two. Okay I guess she gets a hug.

A definite 5 star read. I will be getting book two as soon as it is available. Oh yeah, Big Hugs to Renee George for a great book!

Warning: There is a cliffhanger, because it’s a serial. One you are really going to want to read. If you are totally against serials I suggest you wait until the whole series is out and get it then, because from what I have read so far it will be worth it, but don’t worry. You can always check back when the last book comes out, and check the reviews then. I’m sure you will be hearing the same thing. Buy the book. I haven’t read one of Renee’s books that I wouldn’t recommend to a friend.

I was given this book free of charge by the author for an honest review.

(The Case Files of Dr. Matilda Schmidt, Paranormal Psychologist)

Meet Matilda Schmidt, Paranormal Psychologist…

Unlovable
When Cupid gets stupid…
It isn’t every day a sexy demigod throws a pissed-off Cupid onto psychologist Matilda Schmidt’s couch and informs her the fate of the world depends on her ability to get him off his diapered ass and back to helping people fall in love. But first, she’ll need to convince a seductive hit man he’s snatched the wrong woman before he convinces her he might be the right man—for a night.

Unlucky
When luck runs out…
Accused of stealing gold from an infamous Irish street gang, Paranormal Psychologist Matilda Schmidt will die in exactly five days if she doesn’t cough it up—guilty or not. With minutes ticking away and her office overrun by a leprechaun who’s loopier than he is lucky, Matilda makes a deal with a demigod—give him one night in her bed and he’ll help her locate the missing gold.

Unhoppy
When there’s not a hop in hell…
The day is going to hell in a hurry for Paranormal Psychologist Matilda Schmidt, and that’s *before* a suicidal Easter bunny shows up for treatment. Hunted by two jealous goddesses who would gladly use her intestines to lace up their strappy sandals—and with her full-time hit man sometimes lover nowhere to be found—Matilda will have to save herself, or the world will be up River Styx without a paddle.
