Audio Book Creation Tips for the Independently Published Author

This week’s blog touches on an issue that I am dealing with as we speak. My brother drives a cab in our hometown. He has been a big supporter of my books. A few months ago, he suggested a medium for my books that I had not seriously considered. Many of his regular passengers are blind or vision impaired. They are also avid consumers of audio books. He told me that this would be a great market for my books.

I was a bit skeptical at first, but I began to research the audio book market. Audio books are very popular for commuters and there is a very active market. Because of the work involved, audio books often sell for more than their printed or e-book counterparts. Armed with these facts, I set out to pursue creation of an audio version of my first book, Frankly Speaking.

Fated Desire (The Twisted Destiny Saga #1)

While fast paced and a fairly smooth read, I did get a bit confused as to who was talking in the beginning in one of the scenes, but it quickly straightened itself out. And to be totally honest my blood sugars kept dropping on me at the time, so I wasn’t at my sharpest.

The Twisted Destiny Saga looks to be shaping up nicely. Cora is a feisty character that you can’t help but root for, and Ryan is one hot Alpha Werewolf that I wouldn’t mind being mated with. The chemistry between the two is sizzling, just the way I like it. Their story is just beginning. Fated Desire has a bit of a cliffhanger, but one that is done well. I normally get totally pissed when a book ends with a cliffhanger, but not in this case. Because the story had come to a conclusion, kind of like that of a tv series, where the episode ended, not as a “to be continued” but as a continuing storyline that they will pick up next time.

Franca Storm has given us a great cast of characters; sexy werewolves, evil vampires, witches, seekers, a princess, a vampire prince, a couple of kings, and the white and dark realms. I eagerly look forward to the next book in the saga. Franca Storm is an author to keep an eye on, as I believe her books are only going to improve until she is totally blowing our mind.
